EP (46) Phoebe Lapine: Experimenting Her Way to a More Balanced & Healthy Life With The Wellness Project

The health world is complicated.

When you're dealing with an illness or a condition you're unfamiliar with, navigating the wellness landscape can be daunting and extremely overwhelming.

I get it. I've been there. And so has my next guest.

But you can find solutions. It may just take some time and a little digging.

And boy, can Phoebe Lapine relate. Even though she's a gluten-free chef, author and wellness expert, she too, was taken aback and went through her own denial when her doctor first diagnosed her with Hashimoto's, an autoimmune disease (thyroid condition) that typically affects women.

Everything they told her to do was in direct conflict with her own belief systems about health. Not to mention, it didn't align with anything health and wellness authors were writing about on the best sellers list, either.

Like most things in her life, she decided to take matters into her own hands - which I highly suggest, when it comes to your health - in order to figure out what works for her.

This "investigation" came in the form of a year long project, where she documented her experiments and findings on her popular wellness blog, Feed Me Phoebe.

She's recently turned this year long discovery into a book called The Wellness Project - it is part-memoir and part health and wellness primer. She gave up sugar, went gluten-free, threw away any toxic beauty products and went fully natural and tried out simple ways to improve her own health.

Sure, it took time. But she feels 1000 times better and back to her vibrant self.

In this episode, we talk about everything from how she got started in the culinary and wellness field; why the best and hardest thing she ever did was quit her full time job at the start of the 2008 crash; how she ended up becoming a gluten-free chef (hint: the story didn't begin that way) and her journey from writer/blogger, to published author.

Most people don't even accomplish writing one book in their lifetime...she's now written two books! Phoebe truly is a force to be reckoned with and a lot of her success has to do with her warm and welcoming personality and ability to hustle her way to what she wants.

Happy listening!
