Five Things Holding You Back

FEAR

It's debilitating. Fear can be a nasty thing. But "everything you've ever wanted is on the other side of fear." It's amazing how much power we give this emotion. It stops a lot of us from chasing our dreams, traveling the world or even asking for that promotion at work. The only way to overcome fear is to face it. Understand that it's an emotion you have control of and that the outcome is probably worse in your head then in reality. So take that step and kick fear to the curb.

INDECISION

I've seen this impact almost everyone I know- including myself. We're often waiting for someone or something to give us a sign. "Is this the right decision?" we'll ask ourselves. "Am I making a mistake if I choose this school over that one?" And the next thing you know, you've missed out on an opportunity because you were paralyzed by indecision. The truth of the matter is, that there are no right or wrong decisions. There's only one choice. So make one and accept what may be. Go with the flow. It's how the universe wanted it to unfold.

GIVING YOUR POWER AWAY

They mean well, but they're not you. Our parents, our friends, our colleagues- most have our best intentions at heart. But we can often get caught up in what others think we should or shouldn't do, instead of listening to our heart and what WE feel is right. From personal experience, my father often says to me, "Andrea, just get the ticket," and what he means, is I should get a trade 'ticket' for when times get tough. He clearly means well, but I'm just not feeling it - that's not my dream. Although I feel I'm disappointing him, I know it's my life and that wouldn't make me happy. So why do it?

FEAR OF FAILURE

Let go of what you can't control. Failure is a part of life and it's the best teacher. Instead of focusing on "What if I fail?", focus on "What will I learn from my failures?". This type of mindset with give you that extra push you need to follow your heart’s path and achieve whatever you put your mind to. It's not about being perfect, because there is no such thing. Thomas Edison failed thousands of times before he successfully created the lightbulb...now think about that one for a second.

LACK OF CONFIDENCE

There comes a time when you just need to believe in your abilities. You don't need any more school- you've already got two degrees. You don't need to take any more courses taught by other's doing the same thing you want to do and you definitely should throw away the feeling of being a 'fraud.' Everyone has something great to offer this world, so stop letting a lack of confidence hold you back. Start by doing and taking action.

Cheers to a healthy, happy, and prosperous 2017 - full of meaningful connections, soul-igniting experiences, and lots of love and laughter. Forget the past, you can't change what's done. All you can do is look at the present moment with fresh eyes and a new perspective. There is greatness in each moment and lessons to be learned every day.

Are you ready to step into your best life?!
